Southwestern Vermont Energy Savers (SAVES)

Dedicated to saving you energy and money

SAVES is a fee-based program available to the residents of southwestern Vermont that provides diagnosis of energy problems in the living space due to air infiltration, heating and cooling loss, or inefficient household systems. Our staff will perform a comprehensive energy audit in order to locate problems in your home. The energy audit includes:

• Energy analysis summary after complete examination of all the energy components of your home
• Blower door analysis using a tool to measure air movement to determine if a home is too leaky or too tight
• Heating system safety inspection to include checking the chimney and stove pipe, performing carbon monoxide and draft tests, providing a smoke test reading and delineating your system's efficiency percentage and combustion air requirement
• Thermography (Infrared Scan) that can detect problems with wiring, damaged insulation due to moisture and void wall and attic cavities

SAVES staff will present you with a list of solutions to the problems in your home in order of greatest impact on energy savings and/or health and safety. We will also include an estimate of material costs and predicted benefits and savings for each recommended efficiency measure.
